Vintage Prints Sneak Peek

So I've been busy at work this week, and also preparing for our upcoming vacation!  Next week, we'll be going to Napa for our first anniversary (which I'm calling "Honeymoon, Part II) - I CAN'T WAIT!  I haven't gotten to work on any projects this week, much to my husband's dismay... our garage is currently so full with furniture that we've been 'those people' that park right in front of the garage.  I never understood that phenomenon until now.

I did want to share something small, but super cute, that I started.  Have you seen those prints over book pages that are all over Pinterest and Etsy?  Well I have too, and I'm a fan.

We had taken a trip to the Brimfield flea market (both of our first times!) when it was around last month.  I had seen this idea on BHG for vintage kitchen prints and loved the feel of those prints as original wall art.  I'd much rather make art or hang something meaningful than buy some generic art, you know?  I picked up a 1954 Fluffo cookbook at the flea market because the pages had that perfectly aged look, and partially because I didn't know what in the world Fluffo was (it's like Crisco shortening, NOT marshmallow fluff like I'd guessed).  But some of the writing in the book shows the age and is SO fun, like that "Cooky dough" note on the left!  I just found some kitchen-esque clip art online, made them semi-transparent, and printed onto the old book pages.

HINT: I used a tiny bit of tape to attach them to a normal piece of printer paper because it was easiest to center the image that way.

Because of the odd size of these pages, they won't fit in a standard frame or mat, so the hold up here is the custom mat job I'll have to do.  Stay turned for how they turn out!!

The Project (not-so-affectionately) known as "The Nook"

As my first home improvement post, I want to share something that has been haunting my husband and I since the day we walked into our house. I'll preface this by saying that our house was a short sale (a very deceiving name for a 7-month long home-buying process) so it wasn't in the BEST of conditions when we bought it. We were ready for a little bit of work. But with the wedding and the tight budget that comes along with it, we were pressed for funds.

Hello & Welcome!

Hello out there!  I started this little blog project mostly in an effort to motivate myself to get things done around the house.  I figured since I love reading other DIY and decorating blogs, why not put my trials and tribulations out there so you can learn from MY mistakes, and hopefully a few successes too!
